Japan is a land with a rich history. This can be found everywhere you look, whether it be a grand shrine, a majestic temple, or a noble castle. Whether it is the bombastic metropolis of Tokyo, the ancient districts of Kyoto, or the expressive personality of Osaka, you will always discover new sides to this country.
Less known to many tourists are the beauties of nature which are located in Japan. There are thirty-five national parks in Japan. Activities range from a relaxing day at a beach in Okinawa, an exciting time skiing in Nagoya, and visiting the volcanoes of Kyushu.
While Osaka is known as the "Kitchen of Japan", every single location has their own signature dishes. Some examples are grilled lamb in Hokkaido, Toyama's Black Ramen, the famous Kobe Beef, and Hiroshima Special Okonomiyaki.
Are you more interested in drinks? Japan is not only home to sake, but is also one the top producers of fine whiskey, with breweries all across the country. Partake in sweet plum wine. Enjoy the many beer brands specific to Japan. Or visit the many wineries of Yamanashi.
One of the best ways to unwind in Japan is to soak in one of their many natural hot springs, called "Onsen". There are those located in the snowy mountains, such as the Ginzan Onsen. Some, such as Wakayama's beach resorts, will let you have a fun day on the sand before enjoying an ocean sunset. Or you can visit Hakone, with beautiful views of Mt. Fuji.
For those who want to get the most out of hot springs, there is the steaming city of Beppu. A highlight of the city is the "Eight Hells", springs so hot they are more suited to boiling eggs than bathing.
